I woke up eager to get started and I’m already almost done picking up the first floor!
It’s amazing what a difference it makes when you’re focused on a project. Here are the before and after pictures so far.
I’ve finished the living room, dining room and sun room. The kitchen needs some major dishes washed so I’ll be doing that next before I work in that room. Then I’ll attack the upstairs! Check back later for more before and after photos!
I have to admit that I’m super embarrassed with the mess that you’re about to see…

Excellent before and after shots! What a difference that makes – way to go.
You should not be embarrassed at all … those before pictures look like my house and the houses of all my friends. It’s real life and we LIVE in our homes … they are not showplaces or museums. But, I know that it sure does feel good to declutter … I feel like my week is off to a great start because I did the same at my house. Thanks for sharing!!
Those are pretty impressive photos. I’m considering joining the party. I just can’t see how I’ll get it all done.
Great job! It’s amazing what a difference just decluttering makes.
Great job – great to see your good before and after pics.
Thanks everyone for all the comments. I’m exausted. I decided to keep going and move on to day 2- Cleaning and organizing the living room. I just finished and it’s amazing how willing I was to let go of things I’ve had forever. My problem is books, anyone else have this problem?? I buy them, intend to read them and they sit for years, I don’t have time to read!! I kept a few that I really want to try to read over vacation this summer and the rest are going to get sold!
Rachels, you should sign up and just get done what you can. I felt so motivated doing a few things, it kept me going for the rest of the day (this isn’t intended to be an all-day thing either, I’m just a nut!) Let me know if you do!
See you all tomorrow!
great job!!
peggy’s last blog post..MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I’ve halved my pantry!!
You definitely have to reason to be embarrassed! You did an awesome job today!
That could even be “you have NO reason to be embarrassed!”
Wow! Your home looks beautiful! Your before/after pics are amazing!
Don’t be embarrassed – the photos show what a great job you did! I didn’t get good before photos myself – mostly of my desk which was a good example of the rest of the house!
I know what you mean about books. I am going to work on the bookshelf in my office tomorrow. It is totally packed, two rows deep of books. About half are still in the to be read pile. One thing that helped me for awhile (though i need to get back into the habit) was to just care out some time each day to read, even if it was 20 minutes. Then I started getting through those books and then passing them on, donating them, selling them, etc. when I finished them.
Those are fabulous pictures! WOW, what a difference. I bet you feel lighter, if a little tired. Can’t wait to see your continued progress. Great job!
